I upgraded my Diorskin Nude BB Creme

I've only gone and upgraded my free sample to the full sized amazingness that is Diorskin Nude BB Creme. It took me a while to justify the amount of this product and is now one of my most expensive base products alongside my Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, and my first Dior product.

BB creme after BB creme, I'm a women on a mission to find the best for me whilst keeping my "I haven't got much on my face" look. I was a bit late on this band wagon having only seen this during the summer on one of Suzie from Hello Octobers videos. Whilst watching I adding it to my wish list, and there it remained. For a good few weeks I aimlessly walked past Dior counters looking, swatching and lusting over it. When I finally had it in my hands I was so excited and giddy, It was like I'd past my driving test all over again.

A BB creme is multifunctional, to protect your skin at the same time as giving you a light coverage. It doesn't seem to aggravate my skin when I have spots which normally come at 'that' time of month. It works lovely on its own and as a base for a foundation to give you slightly more coverage on those day's when it's needed. It lasts well on my skin and will last around 10 hours, and at the end of the day is still being wiped off with my cotton pads. The Diorskin BB creme is a lovely al rounder that won't let you down if you're looking for something to boost your natural skin and help give off that 'el naturel' look we all long for.

Have you tried this? What do you think of it?

An outfit for a best friends wedding

To show appreciation and pure jealousy that I'm unable to attend London Fashion Week I thought I'd blog about more fashion related posts this week. Back in August I was lucky enough to watch my first ever friend I met at University get married, and finding the perfect outfit for that occasion took so many months Im not quite sure on the exact amount. I knew that I needed something comfortable to last the whole day, something I wouldn't get crazy hot in as August can go either way in the weather front.

It wasn't until about a week before the wedding that I found this little co-ord in Zara and instantly fell in love with it and knew that is was formal enough, comfortable enough and something I'd lots of wear out of so needed it in my life. Being cream with burgundy and mustard detail it had the perfect amount of summer mixed with a tad of Autumn.

For accessories I chose a fascinator from Debenhams which was my first and found incredibly exciting. Having a lovely fashionista sister I was able to borrow some shoes from her as I'm not that much of a shoe person and the fact she works for Russell and Bromely means she has nice ones. I have a few pairs of trainers, boots and loafers but nothing really wedding like. And to keep my items together I turned to my trusty Mulberry Lily bag which will always have the key to my heart and is just perfect for any occasion.

The day/weekend was perfect and my friend Lizzie looked absolutely stunning. The weather was perfect and my outfit lasted well through out the day and I kept the shoes on right up until 8pm (which I thinks good going).

This gorgeous co-ord is still in Zara and would lovely at an Autumn wedding.

Current shower line up

Being more of a bath fan and not having much time during the week to relax for an hour or so in the tub, I've had to train myself to be MORE SHOWER. Over the last few weeks I've been reaching for the same products over and over.

For a shower to be good I need nice smells and time on my side (in and out in a flash). I had these mini OGX shampoo and conditioner from the summer holidays and are still going strong. You only need a small pea sized amount as it foams up so much and really goes a long way. When I do accidentally use too much my hair gets very greasy, very quickly but when I get the amount right, my hair feel and looks so nice and healthy.

Skin wise like I said I'm a fan of nice scents and is a big part of what I buy for my bathroom. I will use either The Body Shop mango shower gel or the Lush Yuzu and Cocoa as both are delicious smells and also last such a long time on the skin. Being so strapped for time I like to cut corners and was so excited when this Nivea in shower moisturiser came out, and actually doing what it says on the bottle makes it even better. It's literally as simple as applying it and washing it off, and hours later my skin is still soft and moisturised.

What are your favourite shower products? Do you use any of these or can recommend any products for me to try?

A tray of new things #2

Working Monday - Friday and home improvements on a Saturday doesn't leave much shopping time so new products are being bought a lot less right now so posts like this I find is a nice way to share with you guys what I've purchased lately. Most beauty products. Two of these are again TKMaxx finds and I can't begin to explain how much enjoyment I get from having a rummage in my local TKMaxx and haven't been for a couple of weeks so am looking forward to locating my next find.

The Balm is a brand thats really intrigues me, and seeing it splashed all over social media just tempts me beyond belief. When I spotted Balms Away I got super excited and waved over my mum in an attempt to be nonchalant but in the end just shouted "Mum....The balm". It contains vitamins and lipids which hydrate and restore the elasticity around the eye which sounds great as some really aren't fans of rubbing the skin in the eye area., so knowing this helps that is nice to know. I can't wait to see how this fights my Benefit They're Real which is the most stubborn mascara ever.

I'm quite content with my Kevyn Aucoin eyelash curlers but these Japonesque ones shouted out "buy me" as soon as I saw them. Love the fact they're completely black and just so chic.  I hope I end up loving these as much as my Aucoin ones and suspect a whole blog post will go up at some point sharing my findings.

Lastly I re-purchased a COLAB dry shampoo. Purely because it's the only one I've ever used that is literally untraceable to the naked eye. I hadn't used the Tokyo scented one before however is a lovely smell. It's very fresh and oriental an works wonders on my two day hair.

Any new things you think I should get for myself?

My #LFW Boohoo outfit

London fashion week is just round the corner and figuring out the perfect outfit is hard, especially in England as the weather is somewhat unpredictable. When your walking around London here, there and everywhere you've got to be comfortable, but prepared for any unexpected rain. When I was asked to create my ideal London Fashion Week outfit with Boohoo, I thought long and hard before even looking online. Boohoo wanted us to stick to dresses, but with their vast collection meant that making a decision was going to be hard.

Smock dresses are perfect when you want something comfortable and free feeling, especially when you have a long day ahead of you. As it slowly becomes Autumn I wanted to go for colours that I feel I'll be wearing a lot this season and this print shouted to me. I love a good geometric print anyway, but having mustard in, it too is a dream. The white in this pattern helps to brighten it up whilst having a lot of black in it too. The material of this geo dress is quite thin, but perfect for rushing around and in and out of taxis.

To go with the dress I felt like a cosy jacket/coat would be ideal. Khaki is one of my ultimate favourites Autumn/Winter colours to wear and really like pairing it up with mustard. When I saw this duster I fell in love. Being one size fits all you really can't go wrong. When the weather drops you can tie it up and get nice and warm and can just take it off when you get a bit warmer.

Mules are something that you can wear all year round. These Whistle ones look great with this outfit and are really comfy so the perfect shoe for a London Fashion Week goer.  As we are blessed with such gorgeous weather, sunglasses will be a must and these Valentino sunglasses are in such a lovely burgundy Autumnal colour.

Are you going to London Fashion Week? If you are I'm totally jealous!

What outfit will you be wearing?

A make up change up

The weather drops and I'm the first one to grab the scarf out of the wardrobe but when it comes to my make up I like to hang onto the summer. I like to try and live out of a make up bag on a daily basis otherwise it would take me hours to get ready digging through my entire collection. I tend to swap around what I have in my make up bag every month or so and at the moment I am really enjoying the group of products I have right now.

In terms of base I've been starting with the Burberry luminous fluid base all over the areas I want that extra glow (the cheek bones, down the nose and under the brow). It's a. Lovely formula and gives just the right amount of glow to look natural and sun kissed. Being a light base girl the Diorskin Nude BB has quickly become my most used base product. Being so easy to slap on with minimal buffing into the skin it just makes your skin look a tad more awake than normal. In terms of coverage it's obviously not the most effective being a BB cream but some dark patches are lightened.

Contouring is something I'm not really doing right now. I'm not sure why this has slipped away from my everyday routine but right now I'm pretty happy with just a pop of colour on the cheeks. Every time I just look at this Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chick packaging my hearts melts. You need a really light hand with this especially with the bright colour in the middle being so pink and pigmented. Tapping off the excess with this one is vital!

Now onto the eyes which I've been keeping super simple. The Nars Smudge Proof primer is my go to right now as it does the job and never fails. I know that my eye make up will be on and remain looking pretty good all day even after teaching for 6 hours which might include a couple of dance classes. This Loreal nude palette is full of every day wearable shades and are really pigmented and affordable. It's a great palette for travelling as daytime and nighttime eye make up can be done with this one palette. To make my lashes appear a bit fuller I've been pressing in some black eyeliner from Collection. I saw this little trick in a Lisa Potter-Dixon video and haven't stopped doing it since as it does actually give the illusion of fuller thicker lashes. Without going into too much detail (baring in mind this mascara has been mentioned on the blog an incredible amount) Benefit They're Real is and will be my favourite mascara to use. The length it gives your lashes and also the hold power of it is amazing and if you haven't tested it out, you must.

Lastly for lips I've been sticking with my NARS satin lip pencil in Rikugien which I got in a Glossybox. Being a pinky nude it's so easy to apply and also wearable during the day and evening. It's slightly glossy which I'm ok with as I'm normally a matte lip wearer but this is the perfect amount of gloss. It doesn't last an incredible amount of time on the lips but doesn't bother me for during the day.

Has your make up routine changed recently along with the weather?

Do you use any of these products?

A Lush bath: Frozen style

Do you want to build a snowman? No I want a Lush Frozen bath. Easily one of my favourite bath bombs of all time after using just three of them. It makes the water electric blue with some pale blue and white swirled in as well. Laying in a blue lagoon of glitter and fresh smells allows you to just 'let it go' (sorry).

If you haven't tried this bath bomb yet you need to treat yourself this weekend and have a lovely pamper evening. The fragrance is strong but easy on the nose at the same time. Containing grapefruit and a floral touch its the perfect soothing scent that lasts well on the skin.

Will you be getting this? Or have you already tried it?

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015

I remember starting my blog and writing up my first blog post. I was so nervous about what everyone would think and was so secretive about it and kept it to myself for months and months. Now a few years on I feel proud of what I've created, wanting anyone and their dog to read and share it. Beauty and blogging is not only my hobby but something I'm incredibly passionate about and it would make me so happy to win such a prestigious award like this.

If you can spare a few minutes to vote for me using the following LINK I would really appreciate it.

Lastly I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you that takes the time on a daily/weekly basis to read my blog. Every view means the world.

A Clarins pick a mix

My local Clarins counter in Debenhams had a huge sign up saying 'A bag of samples for each customer' so naturally I went over to have a ganders. The deal was that you would have quite an in-depth skin consultaion and talk through the products you use and type of skin etc and get matched up with a Clarins routine and see how you get on. I think this is a great way to try out a brand you've never really tried before and is open to everyone!

The result of my consultation was that I had a typical oily T-Zone and dry cheeks (combination skin) and was asked about the specific products I was using. As a result of what my skin needs I was given the following products; Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Clarins Water Purity One Step Cleanser, Truly Matte Pore Minimizing Serum, Hydra-Matte lotion, Lotus Face Treatment Oil, Ever Matte Skin Balancing Foundation.

I've used all of the products religiously since picking them up and definitely have some favourites and some I'm really not sure of, so lets start with the ones I really got on with.

Yes I'll use that again:

Clarins Water Purity One Step Cleanser I really enjoyed using (as a pre cleanser) as its so refreshing and instantly makes your skin feel fresh and just lovely. The mint is gorgeous as the cooling cleanser is wiped over your face. It was good as breaking down my makeup and leaving your skin feeling refreshed.

Hydra-Matte lotion I found worked a treat on my skin. It's the only moisturiser that I've put on that doesn't male my skin feel really tacky and caked. It immediately sunk into my skin to the point were there was no trace. It didn't completely mattify my skin but just helped with the worse areas. I used this morning and night and acted as a great base for my base make up.

Ever Matte Skin Balancing Foundation Well, I feel this is the top dog of the bunch. I love this foundation. Such a perfect match for me and actually worked at keeping my oiliness at bay! I didn't powder when testing this out and could get away with wearing the foundation all day and it remained on my face with just a little oil showing, but a lot less than normal. If you have oily skin/combination I would totally recommend this foundation. Obviously this is me raving about how it is on my skin so grab a tester first and see how it works for you.

Truly Matte Pore Minimizing Serum, The effects of a serum are after a while of using the products so I can't really comment on that. It was nice to use and left a smooth feeling on the skin once applied and settled. It was quite a runny consistency and the sample didn't give you much product to try out. After a few weeks I could definitely see a reduction in my visible pores (which probably is a result of a combination of products if I'm honest).

No I won't be using that again:

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser, As cleansers go this was nice to use, just not my favourite of cleansers. I normally use a balm or gel cleanser and this just didn't feel nice on my skin for some reason and felt slightly drying on me. I stopped using this after a week or so as my skin just didn't like it.

Lotus Face Treatment Oil, Is supposed to mimic the way your skin produces oil and once applied at night before bed your skin thinks that its already produced oil so doesn't..... I feel that this was the reason my skin broke out and in the mornings my face would be the shiniest ever. I didn't like the feeling of the oil on my skin in general so wouldn't use this again as I felt sort of suffocated.

Overall my skin did change in the month I used these products. My pores reduced in size and my oily t-zone did reduce and seemed to be a lot more controllable instead of your face looks wet. I definitely think this system's good as it helps you try out products that you might not have thought about trying before.

Have you ever tried Clarins?

Favourite products: August

With a blink August has been and gone which is sad as summer holidays have finished but a good thing as I am desperate for Autumn (cosy jumpers and scarfs are the one). I haven't really been on the hunt for anything new or been desperate to discover my new favourite product so this months picks are a bit of a mixture.

New specs from Specsavers- I can't stop wearing my glasses, which is a good thing as I wouldn't be able to see much without them but I'm normally a contact lens wearer. I was due a check up during last month and got some new contacts and glasses and the majority of the month I've been wearing my glasses more than the contacts. The frames are Specsavers own and are really reasonably priced and just look awesome on (head to my Instagram for a cheeky selfie).

Body Shop cotton buds- If your like me and have gunky eyes (I know gross) but I get quite a bit of sleep and the pointed end is great for sorting that out. The horrible gross stuff out the way I use the flat end to smudge my under smoke! I apply my eyeshadow under my lower eyelashes and then use the cotton bud to smudge which does the most perfect smudge ever. Obviously there are loads of uses for these and because they are dual ended they come in handy so often.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme- As you can tell this is a sample, but the longest lasting sample I think I've ever had. I got this so long ago whilst out shopping with my mum and didn't want to pay the money for the whole product without testing it out first. The lady on the Dior counter in Bluewater was so so lovely and matched me upto this and sent me away with this sample. Hand on heart I will be going to buy this (most probably this weekend) as I haven't been able to use any other base I've love it that much. It gives a beautiful natural look to your skin and is so fresh and pretty. It hasn't got a lot of coverage as it's a light base but nothing a little concealer can't help with.

Travalo- Having been on two holidays this August and only taking hand luggage has meant that packing light had to happen. Most of my perfumes are in lovely large bottles that look beautiful but not great for packing light. Thats where the Travalo comes in handy. It's so small and can hold 65 sprays which is perfect for a holiday get a way. You take the metal spray top off your perfume bottle and pop the Travalo on top and pump and the Travalo tops up until it can't hold anymore. Genius idea, cheap and just so useful.

Real Techniques buffing brush- Is my ultimate Real Techniques face brush. I have two of them now and could easily re-purchase this over and over for years to come, which will probably happen. As the name suggests its great at really buffing the product into your skin and gives such a lovely finish. If your in need of a new base brush I urge you to purchase the core collection even just for the buffing brush. So easy to use and is also so great for blusher, bronzer, mineral products etc.

Finding time to paint my nails- Barry M- Painting my nails in general has been something I've made sure to set aside time to do once a week. I find it quite relaxing and just love a fresh set of nails. Funnily enough my favourite combo this August has been black and gold glitter. I just love how it looks and your safe knowing it'll go with any outfit. Barry M have such a crazy amount of shades, are well priced and do last a good 5 days on my nails. You can't fail.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector- Are you normally rushed around during the week? In need of a quick lip pick me up? Then this is certainly something for you. This is always in my bag as it is easy to apply and you don't need a mirror. It helps to give the illusion of fuller lips without that obvious made up effect. It's not too sticky and is honestly a lovely product to have. It matches with my lip colour perfectly and just helps to make them look a bit more plump.

Organising and reading- Evenings are so important to me and over the summer holidays it's been really nice to claim them back. Work can get too much and take over my life and everyones else's I'm sure. I've pinched (borrowed) my sisters Kindle paper light to read a book that I don't have on mine and have fallen head over heels for this Kindle. I love the touch screen as when I'm slowly falling asleep you don't have to move much to turn the page, massive win for me. As well as a bit of reading in the evening I enjoy using my endless amount of notebooks to create lists of blog post ideas, to do lists and anything that is blog related. I find mind maps really help me with blogging so these TKMaxx and Muji notebooks are next to my bed non-stop.

If you've read the whole of this post I applaud you as it's super long. Thank you!

Link me to your favourites or tell me what yours have been.
