My Berlin diary

Berlin was never a place that appeared on my destination wish list, but now it appears in capitals. I can't recommend it enough. There's so much to see, so much to do and lots of places to eat and drink. Our trip was for three nights and two days of purely site seeing, visiting places like the Berlin Cathedral, Berlin Zoo and Potsdamer Platz. It was the perfect length of time to enable us to see everything we wanted to.

Our hotel which was within the Wilmersdorf area. It was a 25 minute walk straight up the road to Berlin Zoo. But if you don't fancy walking everywhere there is a tube station just a minute up the road.

Berlin Zoo was amazing and was very well priced! They had such a vast a ray of animals including a Polar Bear in nice big enclosures.
Currywurst and chips from a small place just outside the Zoo.
Brandenburg Gate
Jewish memorial

Checkpoint Charlie
A section of the Berlin wall
Some delicious food in the City Mall

The underground is so easy to use and only cost 7.40 Euros for the entire day in all zones!

So of you may not know but I'm unable to eat any dairy so to be able to have a milkshake and a chocolate croissant was heavenly.
These photobooths are dotted around Berlin and if your not looking for them may miss them. This one was left out of Schönhauser Allee underground along Shönhauser Allee road.
Berlin Cathedral was breathtaking.
The longest remaining part of the Berlin wall which is called East Side Gallery is covered in amazing graffiti. Would highly recommend visiting.
My first ever Wok to Walk was so scrummy and the ice tea was beaut.
Altes museum
Berlin Cathedral

At the Panoramapunkt viewpoint in Potsdamer Platz was such a nice way send off your trip.
Meal from the last night in Berlin. We chose the Hard Rock Cafe near to the Uhlandstraße underground.
All of the people we spoke to, asked directions from and bought something from were lovely, friendly and extremely helpful. The city of Berlin was very clean and had such a nice vibe whilst walking around during the day and evening. If you're looking for a city break full of history, beautiful architecture and home comforts like Starbucks around most corners Berlin is the place to go.

Have you been to Berlin before? Where did you stay?

A tray of new things

A nice little group of newbies that I'be picked up over the last couple of weeks from Boots, TKMaxx and also a freebie from Mac. The Marble effect tray is also new and from H&M home in Berlin (Post HERE).

yestocarrots- gentle cleansing wipes were an impulse buy for my holidays over the summer. I'm not one to use any sort of wipe on my face but I somehow forgot any sort of make up remover. After reading the packaging before one I noticed they weren't suitable to use on your eyes, which I found quite disappointing. Having said this they are great on my skin and don't dry out my skin like others I've used.

NARS eyeshadow in Party Monster was hidden at the back of a fully loaded shelving unit in my local TKMaxx. Good job I always have a proper rummage otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. I like wearing a purple eye every now and again and this shade of purple is something I don't own. This is my first NARS eyeshadow too so I'm excited to test this out and might be the start of many more NARS shadow purchases.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is a re purchase and I couldn't be happier. I love using this sponge at the end of putting on my make up and like to just press it all over my face. Occasionally I use it to add small amounts of concealer at the end if any areas need extra attention. It manages to really push all product into your skin and leaves it looking super natural and barely there.

MAC False Lash Extreme Black mascara my mum got free and gave it to me (yes to freebies). I'm yet to use it for a substantial amount of time but my first impressions are that the consistency is very wet and not sure if my lashes will get on with it. Being extreme black intrigues me, how can something be extreme black instead of black? Stay tuned as this might get a bit more of a review.

Have you tried any of these products before? What do you think?

Inside my friends make up bag

We all have friends that we know we can chat to about certain stuff, like your guilty pleasures (waves hands in the air- One Direction) or the friend that knows you carry 6 lipsticks in your bag at all times (again waves hands in the air). Well K-Mac (check out her blog HERE) is a great friend that I literally can talk to about anything, however on the top of our chat list is make up. She's just like me and always likes to try out new products and on a regular basis share our views on our most recent purchases.

I asked her to choose a face of make up out of the collection she had in her bag and here are her top picks:

Benefit You Rebel: Tinted moisturiser , Barry M: Afterglow Light Bronzer , Benefit: Watt's up! , Benefit: Roller Lash , Benefit: Fake up Rimmel blush: Live Pink , Eylure: Brow Palette , Bourjois: 48 hour eyeliner

The first product that I was super intrigued about is the Benefit Fake up. What genius created a concealer stick with a barrier or moisturiser around it? And secondly, why have I only just found out about it. K-Mac sold it to me when she said it's very hydrating and works great even when your skin is crazy dry because of the layer of moisture. I'm sold!

The Eylure Brow Palette is a product I've seen and heard about from quite a lot of people however K-Mac is in love with this and hasn't used anything else for her brows since. I've never used a wax product like this before but her brows are on point so maybe I should give it a go?
Is there anything in K-Macs make up bag that you use or would like to try out? I'm off to buy Fake up..... sounds amazing!

Do Whistles have the perfect Clutch bag?

I'm not really one to go out a lot but when the time is right I'm always holding onto a Whistles Clutch bag. They're just the best and easiest bag to take out, not even just for a night out but for a day trip too. I'm that friend that packs anything and everything into my bag including an umbrella, a plastic bag, make up, purse, phone, charger the list goes on. Obviously all of this won't fit into the small sized one, but the medium is just perfect.

You can get some clutches at Whistles that have a chain so you can wear it as a bag and not have to hold it, which is a great idea and am yet to purchase one to add to my collection. Because they are either leather or plastic they are long wearing and the leather ages well (can you believe I've had the purple one for a couple of years).

What clutch bags do you like to take out? Have you got a Whistles clutch? Do you want one? Small linked HERE and medium linked HERE.

Happy Monday all!

Another tinted moisturiser: Cargo Cosmetics

You all know how in love I am with tinted moisturiser, well I only went and found a new one to try out having only run into TKMaxx for a new living room candle. Cargo isn't a brand I've overly heard about nor have I been lusting over any products specifically but I'm not one to pass up a light base.

After wearing this at work everyday for over three weeks now I can honestly say I don't want to stop wearing it. I have to say I prefer the finish of this for daytime wear as it lasts well and allows some natural shine to come through and gives you a lovely natural (your skin looks great look). If I wear a tint in the evening I stick to the Laura Mercier as it's matifying and a better coverage than most others. It's quite a thick consistency as you can see above and more like a thick foundation, but once you start buffing it into the skin it smooths in to give you a nice, more even complexion. The shade match is perfect for my skin this time of the year but if I wanted to use it in the winter I'd need to hunt down the shade lighter (Ivory). Also a nice bonus of having an SPF of 20 is great for added protection in the sun and I for one need that a lot as very prone to a red nose.

It's suitable for all skin types, oil free and has a water resistant formula and lastly paraben free. It's a lovely tinted moisturiser and if like me you seen to live off these in the summer you need to hunt this down.

Have you tried this or anything else from Cargo?

My Instagram beauty wishlist

I realised the other day that the majority of posts I like on Instagram are beauty related ones. Of course there are some fashion and also pictures of people sunnin themselves and I've liked it because I'm jealous  I don't know about you, but I screenshot things I like and keep them in a folder on my iphone as a visual wishlist and just keep adding to it over time.

The Body Shop- Body sorbet- So.... the Virgin Mojito scent has kicked off across the internet and so many people spreading the love for it. And now having scrolled through my wishlist gallery I know that I need this. Body shop body care is amazing in more ways than one. The smell, the cost, the effect and how long their products last.

Kiehls Daily Reviving Concentrate-  (Shanmay_) Kiehls as a brand are one that seems to have lots of cult favourites. and if I'm honest, I've never tried anything from them. For a while now the night concentrate has been on my wishlist, but when I saw this on Shanmay_ Instagram I liked and instantly looked it up. It just sounds like a nice pick me up for tired looking skin. Something that is packed with goodness and help your skin to look radiant.

Black Beautyblender-  (justjessicablog) I've used the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge for a while now and do really like it. Using a sponge just finishes off your make up in a totally different way, and with the pointed end allows you to really get into those hard to reach areas around your nose and eyes. This black Beautyblender is on my wishlist purely because its black. Silly I know but don't you think it looks cool!!

Bourjois- Blue Lagoon-  (pinkpixiedoll) When the suns out, all I want to put on my nails are brights or pastels. Having followed Millie for a long time now I know she is a big fan of pastels and boy is this nail varnish pretty. It's a pastel colour however a bright at the same time (if thats possible). Super fresh and perfect for a holiday. The Bourjois Gel polishes have such a great brush on them and most of the time can cover your nail in one.

Zoella Tutti Fruiti(ohmygeeee) I'm so intrigued to try out this range. Recently saw Zoe talk about it on her channel and obviously she likes the smell but others reactions too are very positive. I have enjoyed her last collection a lot so this weekend will be having a closer look at the Tutti Fruiti products. I think I'm swaying more to the 'Foam Sweet Foam'.

Mac Giambattista Valli- (slave2beauty) Matte lipsticks are the way forward if you want a long lasting, bold lip. When I first saw a picture of these my heart seemed to flutter (no joke). The bright pink and the true red are the shades I'm mostly lusting over. The pale pink would look ridiculous on me because of how pale I am. You can't go wrong with Mac lipsticks and everyone loves them for a reason. This collection is certainly one to hunt down if you can.

Birchbox July- (mmmelodyg) The July box got me excited, which hasn't happened for a while. It seems to be filled with products I would actually like to try and not one of them have I turned my nose up at. They have it on point this month and am gutted I didn't get my hands on one. Go and sign up to avoid disappointment in the future.....I know I will be.

bagsy- (Lndnbeautyqueen) Make up products that are designed to go in your bag easily? Say what?!?! You heard me right. All of the products excite me and can't pin point any I wouldn't want to try. Check them out!! Ok ok, the liquid lipsticks need to be mine. They are designed to be easy to use with some products being duo products which we all love when packing our handbags.

What a perfect day to upload a wishlist, just in time for a Saturday of shopping!

Make up I want, but my mum has

My mum is so on it with beauty and make up that I'm often going off on a tangent about a product I really want to try and she simply replies with "oh I have that", she should blog I tell ya! She's currently away so I'm free to have a rummage and obviously found some items I would quite like to own myself and thought I'd share those with you incase you've tried or got them and can give me some insight.

Mac Fanfare Cremesheen finish- Cremesheen finish is nice and really appreciate it when I try it on, but for some reason I don't really own many. Its such a lovely shade which is incredibly similar to my own lip colour but with a subtle shimmer once on the lips. A lipstick that would be lovely to have in my travel make up bag just incase as it's so close to my lip colour I wouldn't need a mirror to apply it.

Mac Toxic Tale Satin finish- This shade is just beautiful and one that I'd never heard of before. Once on it looked very similar to impassioned which would be a good one to go for as Toxic Tale isn't on the website anymore. It's one of those ready, pinky, orangey bright shades that looks great with any skin tone. When I tried this out it seemed to last quite a while and felt more or so like a matte finish as of how long it lasted.

Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm- Over the years bloggers, friends and family members have mentioned this product to me and I'm still yet to have my own to try out. It's supposed to brighten, smooth and moisturise for all skin types. Mum swears by Elemis products and the reviews I've looked up all seem pretty positive about it. Anything that can help the dryness around my nose and I'm all for it.

Loreal Paris Skin Perfection BB cream 5 in 1- You can't go wrong with a BB cream, especially in summer and the hotter days. Something you can put on and feel a bit more alive and fresh. I've tried quite a few different BB's but not tried this one. You get quite a lot for your money and has an spf of 25! Great news for us that try to look after our skin. This is for sure something I will be picking up in Boots soon.

Are you envious of your mums make up/beauty stash?

Pamper evenings with bliss

Seems like we are always go go go and personally have to schedule in some me time otherwise weeks can go by until I realise I haven't stopped. Normally I have a bath and a herbal tea on the go with Netflix on my iPad, a candle and a good smelling Lush bath product making the room smell delicious (loving Comforter at the moment). Quite often I'll apply a face mask or eye mask before I get in and lay in the bath while it works its magic.

Whilst having one of those weeks were I just haven't had time to stop Birchbox contacted me and asking if I'd like to try out some *bliss products. Now being a lover of a good pamper (and in need of one) and just a skincare lover in general I jumped at the opportunity.

My lovely box firstly contained the bliss gel-to-oil cleanser which they describe as "..the gel transforms into a lightweight, yet powerful cleansing oil that breaks down and melts away all traces of oil, impurities, and makeup. Skin is left with a gorgeous afterglow that feels completely clean, silky-smooth, and perfectly nourished." which I would totally agree with. It's heavenly when applying it after a long day. The cooling gel consistency instantly brakes down your make up and smears it all around your face (so you look like a very upset clown). It's pretty good at taking off my Benefit They're Real which is normally tough to remove. You can feel the transformation of the product as you massage it into the face as it turns into an oil. When removing the cleanser with a hot cloth your skin feels refreshed, smooth and super clean.

Secondly (and the one of the two I was mostly excited to try) was the triple oxygen instant energizing eye masks meant to perk up your under eye area in just 15 minutes! bliss say they're effective because they " release 3 forms of glow-inducing oxygen to brighten, de-puff and hydrate the skin around the eye". Once the pads are completely soaked in the solution you pop them straight under your eyes and relax and wait. They are nice and cooling to help with any puffiness however there could be less solution as they were very much soaked they felt like they were sliding down my face so I laid down and closed my eyes every time I used them (any excuse to lay down). When removing the pads from under my eyes I felt instantly awake and refreshed. They are perfect to use before an event or special occasion as your getting ready as they definately perk you up, especially if you had a late night the day before.

I've recently been in a state with my skin. Pores have been badly clogged and lots of impurities that I'm not normally prone to getting. This cleanser has actually helped that problem a lot and my bumpy skin seems to have got loads better and very few impurities and very close to saying my skin is back to normal!

In conclusion both of these products are products I would 100% re-purchase as they are products that good a very good job at what they say they'll do. The price tag might be a little high for some but honestly they both do a great job. The cleanser is gentle enough to use every day and the eye masks are a lovely treat on the odd day or evening when you really need a bit of an eye bright job.

Have you tried anything from bliss before? Do you fancy trying these out?
